Joe is a vice president and senior portfolio manager at Avantis Investors®. He previously held various roles at Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA), including Co-Head of Portfolio Management and Chair of the Investment Committee, where he oversaw DFA’s global portfolio management team, including U.S. equity, non-U.S. equity and fixed-income strategies.

Before joining DFA, Joe worked as a securities and finance attorney, focusing on venture capital, public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.

Joe earned a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also received the Harold M. Williams Award for overall academic achievement and the J. Fred Weston Award for exceptional academic excellence and scholarship in finance. He earned a juris doctor degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Joe is a CFA® Charterholder.
